Put Together: Details Matter

Put Together: Details Matter

Hi Friends!

For this addition of put together, I wanted to talk about how the little things honestly make the biggest difference. You don't need to have the most expensive clothes or trendiest items, but can really just put a little extra thought into your outfit each morning to elevate it. These tips can turn a basic outfit into ultra chic. A couple of examples of what to pay attention to are your nails, matching your metals, and using textures to your advantage.

1. For your nails, just having them done makes you look 10x more put together, and just shows you put that little bit of extra time to pamper yourself. You don't need to spend tons of money, an at home mani is perfectly fine!

2. Next, matching your metals is something that I'm honestly a little OCD about. If I'm wearing silver earrings, I will only wear all other silver accessories, or make sure that my jacket metals match. I do this because it creates a more cohesive look, but of course if you are deliberately mixing metals, it can work as well!

3. Texture is your best friend!! An all black outfit can go from "eh, whatever" to "damn" with some texture that makes it look like you know how to make a subtle statement. This little touch adds a unique quality to your look, and I highly recommend the next time you're shopping to add in some cool textures to the mix.

Here are a few outfits showing exactly what I mean:

Getting my nails done is definetly a guilty pleasure of mine. Here are just a couple shots of my recent nail looks. As you can see I love nude and incorporating some sparkle, ya know I had to. I get calcium dip from Velvet Nail Lounge, which uses my real nails and dips it in calcium powder,  so it's actually good for you! It is a little on the expensive side, but lasts me about a month.

This outfit is a great example of how to play with details and a little texture on a simple outfit. The base of the outfit is this turtleneck from Forever 21 with these fringe bottom jeans from Joe's, which in itself has a great little touch at the bottom. I added on this black vest that has some fun crochet detailing that adds interest, and then for accessories, I have these gold spike earrings from Nordstrom Rack and my Steve Madden slides. The gold detail with the earrings matches the gold detailing on the shoes, as well as the little bit of nude in the vest to tie everything together.

This outfit is a fun and casual way to play with color. My sleeveless knit sweater from Nordstrom Rack goes great with this pastel blue cardigan from Nordstrom Rack as well because of the light color combination and texture contrast with the sweater. I added my black jeans from Paige Denim, and for accessories, I added my glasses from Eye Buy Direct for a more casual look, and my Steve Madden slides. For jewelry, I just added some gold necklaces to tie in with the gold on my shoes.

And with that, I hope you got some fashion inspiration on how to always look your best!

Until next time,
