Styling Secrets: Midi Dresses

Today I want to talk about one of my favorite things to wear - midi dresses. The length has an effortless elegance to it, and I definitely feel like the classiest person in the room when I put on one! Also, they're so easy - the convenience of throwing on a dress and barely having to shave is killer. With this combination, it's no wonder I've been gravitating toward them all summer!

As for styling, I like to keep the dress the focal point, and keep my accessories more limited. As you'll see, my go to is to add a heel, because I'm short and don't want to get lost in the length of the dress. Second, is to add some fun statement earrings to compliment the outfit. From casual to fancy, this is a staple in my wardrobe all season.

In this first outfit, my silk midi dress is from Nordstrom Rack. It's very plain and simple, so if not styled properly, it might end up looking like a slip. To avoid this I added a silk scarf from Amazon as a belt to accentuate my waist. I then added black booties from Nordstrom Rack to keep with the chic feel, and topped it off with my Michael Kors watch. To tie in the color of the scarf, I added a bold red/orange lip.

This outfit is a little more dressy, classy, and sexy all in one. This burnt orange body suede and silk dress is from Nordstrom Rack and has the coolest sleeve detail that makes it stand out. I loved the gold undertones so I added these metallic heels from Gucci and matched them with these fringe earrings from TJ Maxx to create a fun and cohesive vibe. I kept my makeup more simple but played with the same golds in my eyeshadow.

This outfit is a little more casual. My denim style dress is from Nordstrom Rack and the off the shoulder detail and ruffles are so fun. Because there is a lot going on with the dress, I again wanted to keep everything else simple. I matched the tie in the dress to my shoes and earrings. My nude suede wedges are from Nordstrom and my nude statement earrings are from TJ Maxx. This outfit is perfect for brunch on a hot summer day!

This dress from Nordstrom is so fun and flattering with the cut and colors. It's the perfect summer dress because it does everything you want for you! The slightly V-neck line, combined with the waist tie, and wrapped slit is extremely flattering on so many body types. The dress has a lot going on, so to keep it the focal point I added nude snake skin heels from Aldo and nude statement earrings from Nordstrom Rack. I wanted to play up the colors in the dress and added a bold purple lip to tie it all together.
