Skin Care Essentials

Hi Friends!

Today I'm switching things up a bit and talking about something everyone can benefit from: skin care! These are just my personal favorites and my routine that works well for me and my skin tone.

To start off, I want to mention that my skin is normal-dry with a lot of redness. It is not too acne prone, but as you see I use a lot of products for prevention. I am also pretty minimal with my routine on a day to day, and constantly switch out products so that my skin doesn't get immune/used to one thing too much (I'm crazy I know).

During the shower:

In the shower, I generally wash my face twice, once at the beginning and end of my shower, and use two different face washes. The first one is generally a more neutral one that takes off any leftover makeup, and the second one is usually more focused on acne prevention. Here are a few of my favorites:

Right after the shower:

Because I generally shower at night, right after the first thing I do is put on a few drops if my Kiehl's midnight recovery serum. This product is a holy grail and has made my skin much less red, reduced my under eye bags, and evened out my complexion a lot more. Must be magic in that little bottle! After that, I just add any moisturizer and go to bed!

Weekly basis/if needed:

Some of the things that I don't do regularly but definitely will still throw in here and there are face masks, toners, and hydrating mists.

I have tons of face masks I love that range from extremely inexpensive to a little more luxurious, but again, it's just whatever I feel like my skin needs at the time. If you can afford to spend a little more, the magnetic mask from Dr. Brandt is something I'm amazed by every time I use it and leaves my skin feeling like butter.

For toners, this is just an added thing for when I'm traveling and need that extra clean or generally when I need more hydration.

For hydrating mists, this also just depends. My makeup setting sprays usually have a hydrating factor in themselves, so I tend to combine both uses.

General:

Overall, skin health is really less about products and chemicals and more about drinking a ton of water, eating your greens, and getting enough sleep. Do those three and the benefits you see will be greater than any beauty product on the market! Make it fun, get bougie, whatever you want to do!

And with that, I hope you got some inspiration for taking care of your skin!

Until next time,
