Styling Secrets: The Leather Jacket

Today I wanted to talk about styling the leather jacket. This piece is such a timeless staple that everyone needs in their wardrobe because it can be used for every season! Especially now as spring is approaching but it's still a tad chilly, a leather jacket can be the perfect chic third piece to add on.

The leather jacket I used in all these outfits is from Michael Kors - it was a splurge but I've had it for 4 years now and it is still in perfect condition, so my tip to you is to find one you love and spend the little extra money because you will get the use out of it. Mine in particular I loved because of the structure and symettrical cut which I thought added a timeless chic to the jacket. To showcase the versatility I styled casual, dressy, and in between to highlight that it can work with any outfit.

A theme you'll see with these outfits is that I love styling all black. This adds to the chicness of the overall look and allows you to still have fun with textures and little pops of color.

This outfit is fun, comfy, and chic all in one. The all black everything and mesh top adds the perfect level of a little bit of skin showing, and the high-waisted pants balances everything out. The top and bralette are from Pac Sun, the pants are from Nordstrom Rack, the necklace is from Bohoqueen Jewlery, and the sunglasses are from Burberry.

This outfit is a little dressier and highlights one of my favorite ways to wear the leather jacket - just throw it over your shoulders! This touch makes any girl look like they have it all together. The sweater and skirt are from Forever 21, the booties are from Norstrom Rack, and the loepard print necklace is from Henri Bendel. The olive tone skirt was subdued and adding the little touch of print with the necklace made the whole look a little more fun.

This fun and colorful look is one I love for days that I feel like playing up my makeup. When you look at just the outfit, it's all pretty simple, but what makes it work are all of the little details, such as the sleeves on the top which stick out of the leather jacket, or the earrings that match the makeup and top. The leather jacket here tones the boldness down. The top is from Nordstrom Rack, jeans from Topshop, earrings from TjMaxx, and booties from Steve Madden.

This outfit is super casual - athlesiure is the best! The leather jacket here gives the look a cool effortless vibe instead of just looking like I came from the gym. I played up the look by adding some color with the eyeliner and added sneakers that have fun accents. The crop top is from Forever 21, the leggings are from Tj Maxx, and the shoes are from Nike,
